The Different Types of Fragrances for Men

When it comes to fragrances for men, many people think that it is a rather small market, but you may be surprised to know that mens cologne is at an all-time popularity. More men today are putting on fragrances than ever, and their significant others are not complaining because the different scents for men are masculine yet inviting. Just like all perfumes for women do not smell good on every woman, the same holds true for fragrances for men. Every man's body chemistry is unique, and therefore, dry skin tones will wear the fragrance very differently than someone with oily skin. The most common types of mens cologne are those with a woody smell, crisp, and musky scents. Very few men's fragrances have floral because that is associated with women's scents, but many do have citrus mixed with the woody notes to give the final smell that is more balance.
Women often do not need a lesson in wearing perfumes because they typically learn the tricks of the trade from their mothers and sisters. Men on the other hand, have seen the movies where women dab on the perfume on different parts of the body such as the neck and wrists and not sure, if that works the same for men. There is one rule to keep in mind that applies to both men and women and that is not to put on too much fragrance, you do not want to overpower people you come into contact with.

Men should apply their different colognes to the glandular points, such as the wrists, behind the ears, and the neck. Remember, go easy on how much you apply, and if you are not comfortable spraying it on, try spraying the cologne in the air above your head and allow it to settle on your hair and shoulders, which makes for a much subtler scent.

In addition, you need to be careful with fragrances for men so that they do not interfere with any kind of aftershave you may put on. After all, if you have an aftershave that smells very different from your mens cologne, the two scents may not mix well, and you will end up not having a good combination. It is typical to see fragrances for men given as gifts by their girlfriends or wives, therefore if you are buying the cologne for someone, make sure you have an idea of what he likes. After all, musk may not be as appealing to your guy as much as the lighter colognes are, which is why knowing the man you are choosing the fragrance for is critical. Men's fragrances have grown into a very large industry and many department stores have an entire section that is devoted to colognes specifically for men, which makes it easier for you to select your favorite scent.
